About Diana Rowland

Diana Rowland lives in South Louisiana with her husband and daughter. A southerner all her life, Rowland attended Georgie Tech where earned a B.S. in Applied Mathematics.

She has worked as a police officer, forensics expert, and a crime scene investigator. In her work, she has handled "numerous dead bodies in various states of decomposition." According to Rowland, she has "seen more than her share of what humans can do to each other and to themselves."

What Makes Diana Rowland Unique?

Diana Rowland has direct experience with corpses. As an interview with RT Books reports:
"All of the autopsy scenes in the White Trash Zombie books are taken directly from my own experience. In fact, one of my duties when I worked at the morgue was to cut the heads open and take the brains out."
Her previous work also helped her create the "gallows humor" that shows up in her fiction. But there are some things that one NEVER jokes about:
"Other aspects, such as the dark humor used to relieve some of the horror of the job are absolutely true and from my own experience, as well as the fact that no one ever jokes when the victim is a kid."
Ms. Rowland has based a number of characters on former coworkers, with their permission, of course. She's used a combination of the "more unique personalities" throughout her zombie novels. Because, as she says:  "...honestly, I’m not sure I could make some of this stuff up." (Source: RT Book Reviews )
